Waiwera Water- NZ’s most awarded water
In 2006 Waiwera approached Jenkins Group to produce a tamper seal that complimented their now award winning David Melrose design bottle (see
www.waiwerawater.co.nz/bottle.php)
The shrink sleeve needed to:
- Fully secure both PET and glass bottles
- Use print to tie into the green tint of the bottle design
- Allow easy removal for customers
- MOST IMPORTANTLY stop their application downtime they were facing
Jenkins Group took these criteria and set up a development process. The first step was to develop an understanding from the onsite engineers of the application problems that were causing downtime. Next Jenkins Group provided working samples to overcome Waiwera’s specific application issues. During this process both Jenkins Group sales and technical staff were on site to understand and measure performance.
On the successful demonstration of the working concept Jenkins Group went about printing a shrink sleeve that harmonised with the distinctive Waiwera bottle. This sleeve design cleverly incorporates perforations for easy opening, clear branding and the mandatory barcode without imposing on the bottle design.
Since working through this initial process with Waiwera, Jenkins Group has now extended this development process to Waiwera’s range of bottles.
Outcomes:
Jenkins Group developed a shrink solution that overcame Waiwera’s application issue.
Print quality and functionality matched the demands set by Waiwera.
Jenkins Group also supplies Waiwera with self adhesive labels and promotional neck tags for their brand range.

Chelsea Golden & Maple Syrup
Chelsea Sugar Company capitalised upon a key convenience trend by offering the consumer their family favourite Golden Syrup in a squeezable pack format. Iconic Chelsea Golden Syrup has been a key baking stable with the tin seen in all home pantries for 125 years.
Jenkins Group was challenged with matching colours and standards of the current famous “red Golden Syrup tin” to a label format for the squeezable pack.
The tin is printed using an offset process while Jenkins Group operates one of New Zealand’s latest fleet of UV Flexographic presses.
New Zealand Sugar worked closely with Jenkins Group press and print manager aligning the colours on the label to meet the Chelsea brand specifications that corresponded to their famous Golden Syrup tin.
Whilst using a different process on varying substrates often results in visual differences, the marketing team at Chelsea Sugar were equally impressed by the quality of workmanship and service given by the Jenkins team.
Seeing our finished labels associated with a famous NZ product on the supermarkets shelves, gives us a great sense of pride.
Outcome:
Jenkins Group repeatedly delivers brand consistency in the printing process across different substrates.
